The Cats of The Netherlands

“The Cats of The Netherlands" is a captivating two-part zine series showcasing the charm of street cats in The Netherlands through a collection of 12 original paintings and photographs. Inspired by my stay in The Netherlands, particularly in Linden and Amsterdam in 2016, I rendered these paintings from photographs I personally captured. Each painting, measuring at 5x7" on watercolor paper, is a unique blend of marker and watercolor paints, along with gouache. After completing the paintings, I felt compelled to share this series with others. Thus, I meticulously crafted the zines using Adobe InDesign, with each zine containing 14 pages. Within these pages, I provide insights into the series and showcase six of the twelve original photographs and paintings. The zines are staple-bound and printed on 80lb text satin paper, sized at 148mmx210mm (5.8"x8.26"), or A5. These zines have found their way to various locations, including Quimby's Bookstore in Williamsburg, FriendsNYC in Bushwick, and Cat On The Corner in Catskills, New York, where they've been warmly received. Additionally, I offer them for sale through my Etsy store. Currently, part 1 is in its 4th printing, while part 2 is in its 2nd printing, demonstrating their popularity and appeal to cat enthusiasts and art lovers alike.

The Cats of The Netherlands

The Cats of The Netherlands is a collection of watercolor paintings that originated from photographs taken during my trip to The Netherlands in 2016.

While exploring with a friend, I captured photos of numerous stray cats, which later became the subjects of my artwork. When I returned to New York, I started to create the painting for each cat, resulting in a current count of 12 completed paintings.

In 2020, I ventured into crafting my zine for this series. Each zine encompasses 14 pages, encompassing both cover and back, and delves into the essence of the series. It features six out of the 12 original photographs and paintings from the collection.
Fast-forward to 2022, where the series has expanded into Part 1 and Part 2 zines, collectively encapsulating the twelve watercolor pieces. These zines are available for purchase through my Etsy store, as well as being stocked at Quimby's bookstore in Williamsburg and Cats Corner in Catskills.
The zine itself boasts a staple-bound format, printed on 80lb text satin paper, and meticulously crafted using Indesign. Its dimensions measure 148mm x 210mm (5.8" x 8.26"), conforming to the A5 standard, with each zine spanning 14 pages.

Disrupt: Notably, the paintings were showcased at the "Disrupt" art show hosted by Artist and Fleas in 2018. A trio of paintings found their place in their Soho, Chelsea Market, and Williamsburg locations, showcasing the resonance of the collection.

In July 2025, a Cat 9 print was donated for Heartwood Haven's charity auction called Hearts & Hooves; winning bid of $60 directly funded animal wellness efforts.
